Peshawar, May 3, 2025 – Students from the Helping Hand Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences (HHIRS) embarked on an enriching academic exposure visit to two of Peshawar’s leading healthcare institutions: the Rehman Medical Institute (RMI) and the Paraplegic Center. The visit offered a unique opportunity for students to bridge classroom learning with real-world medical and rehabilitation practices, leaving them inspired and better equipped for their future careers.

At RMI, the students were warmly welcomed by Dr. Bilal Afridi, Principal of RMI, and Dr. Madiha, whose expertise and dedication set the tone for an insightful experience. The students toured the state-of-the-art facilities, observed cutting-edge medical procedures, and engaged in discussions with healthcare professionals. The visit provided a firsthand look at the complexities of patient care and the critical role of advanced medical technology in improving lives.

The journey continued at the Paraplegic Center, where Dr. Syed Muhammad Ilyas, the CEO, and Dr. Gohar, a renowned rehabilitation specialist, guided the students through the facility’s mission-driven work. The center, dedicated to empowering individuals with spinal cord injuries, showcased innovative rehabilitation techniques and personalized care models. Students were particularly moved by the resilience of the patients and the compassionate approach of the staff, which underscored the importance of holistic care in rehabilitation sciences.

The visit was more than just an academic exercise—it was a chance for students to connect with professionals who are shaping the future of healthcare and rehabilitation in Pakistan. The warm hospitality and mentorship provided by Dr. Afridi, Dr. Madiha, Dr. Ilyas, and Dr. Gohar left a lasting impact, sparking meaningful conversations about career paths and the evolving landscape of medical and rehabilitative care.

HHIRS extends its deepest gratitude to the teams at RMI and the Paraplegic Center for their unwavering support and generosity. Their commitment to nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals made this experience truly transformative for the students.

As one HHIRS student reflected, “This visit opened my eyes to the real-world challenges and rewards of our field. Meeting such inspiring professionals and patients has motivated me to work harder and make a difference.”

The exposure visit not only enriched the students’ academic journey but also reinforced HHIRS’s mission to prepare compassionate, skilled professionals ready to serve their communities with excellence.
