Lahore, Pakistan – In a landmark decision aimed at improving healthcare services for disabled individuals, the Punjab provincial cabinet, during its 23rd meeting, approved the establishment of a state-of-the-art center for robotic artificial limbs from South Korea. This initiative is set to revolutionize prosthetic services in the province, offering advanced technological solutions to amputees and individuals with physical disabilities.

Punjab, Pakistan’s most populous province, is home to over 110 million people, accounting for nearly 53% of the country’s total population. According to recent estimates, approximately 2.3% of Pakistan’s population lives with some form of disability, with a significant number being amputees due to accidents, congenital conditions, or diseases such as diabetes. In Punjab alone, this translates to hundreds of thousands of individuals who face daily challenges due to the lack of access to affordable and advanced prosthetic care.

The new center, which will utilize cutting-edge robotic technology from South Korea, aims to address this gap by providing high-quality, customized artificial limbs. Robotic prosthetics are known for their precision, functionality, and ability to mimic natural movement, offering users a significantly improved quality of life. This initiative is expected to benefit not only amputees but also individuals with mobility impairments, enabling them to regain independence and participate more actively in society.

Further details are yet to be announced.
