In observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2024, a special program was organized at the Rehabilitation Centre for Persons with Disabilities (PIPOS) at Headquarters Hospital Wana. The event was attended by the Medical Superintendent, Mr. Hammad, staff of the PIPOS center, representatives of the PDF (Persons with Disabilities Forum), and several individuals with disabilities.
The event aimed to raise awareness among persons with disabilities about their rights and provided them with a platform to discuss the challenges they face. Participants highlighted the need for stronger initiatives to support individuals with disabilities in the region.
A notable demand raised during the event was the provision of wheelchairs through the Social Welfare Department of Lower Waziristan, facilitated by the PIPOS center. Attendees also urged the authorities to expand the Rehabilitation Centre for Persons with Disabilities into a fully-equipped skill development center, enabling individuals to gain valuable vocational skills.
The program concluded with heartfelt gratitude expressed by persons with disabilities toward the PIPOS staff for organizing the event and for their continued support and dedication.
