In a significant move towards social welfare, the Punjab government in Pakistan through social welfare and Bait ul Mal Department has introduced the Himmat Card initiative aimed at supporting differently-abled individuals. Under this program, approximately 65,000 eligible recipients will receive financial aid of PKR 10,500 every three months. The program seeks not only to provide monetary assistance but also to extend crucial services, enhancing the quality of life for people with disabilities.
The Himmat Card will evolve into a multifunctional travel card that can be used on public transportation, including Orange Line trains and Metro buses. Beyond financial support and mobility solutions, the scheme includes access to essential mobility aids such as wheelchairs, artificial limbs, and hearing devices.
